Weekly Anime Review

I am reviewing some new shows this week. Fate/Night Unlimited Blade Work started with a one hour Episode 0 that was totally worth it. Shingeki no Bahamut looks promising with the magic and swashbuckling, and Psycho-Pass is back for a second season. From the older stuff, Argevollen showed off more new mecha and Sword Art Online finally ended its first arc. It was about time. G no Reconguistacontin…

Weekly Anime Review

Although Mahouka has ended, I expect a season two in a few years. Argevollen is back with much quality and a new mecha. Sword Art Online hasn’t completed its arc, which was really decompressed. One new show for the fall season is Gundam: G Reconguista. It’s trippy. Next week will have more new shows. (more…)

Weekly Anime Review #anime

Captain Earth and Aldnoah Zero ended this week. Mahouka has one more episode to go. Argevollen had a break, well, a recap episode, and Sword Art Online is staying for the fall. Luckily for me, this fall season seems to be a big one, so I’ve got plenty to choose from to replace the ending shows. (more…)

Weekly Anime Review

We’re almost at the end of this summer season. Mahouka is starting to rush things out to finish its plot in time for the finish line, and it’s really a good result, but much better to read the novel translation on Baka-Tsuki. Captain Earth had an expected plot twist with Puck. Argevollen had its best episode to date. Aldnoah Zero too, probably. Sword Art Online IIis suffering from the opposite of

Weekly Anime Review

There was a lot of talking this week on all of the shows. It’s like it was Let’s Talk week. Mahouka took it really slow despite only having a few episodes left to finish the current story arc. I guess the battles are going to go fast. Captain Earth delivered what was more or less a filler episode from my point-of-view right before the final. Argevollen was a cool down episode, Aldnoahcontinued…

Weekly Anime Review

Shows are cruising toward their endings or mid-season finals. Mahouka was action-packed this week; in fact, it had two fights against the same enemy in a single episode. Captain Earth had a weird ending moment. Argevollen was, once again, super slow. The direction of that anime is lacking. Aldnoah had the best episode I’ve watched of an anime in a long time. Sword Art Online was predictable. (mor…

Weekly Anime Review

I dropped Re: Hamatora this week because I don’t like where it is going that much. For the rest, threads are picking up. Argevollen succeeded in having the worst and best animations of its season in a single episode. Mahouka shows that kids can easily be bullies to adults. Captain Earth has people doing stupid things. Adnoah Zero has a “Yeah, I love flying battleships” moment. Finally, Sword Art…

Weekly Anime Review

Once again, some nice action and plot development this week. Somewhat normal weeks for the almost-ending shows like Mahouka and Captain Earth. There was also a lot of plot exposition, maybe a bit heavy-handed in some cases. Actually, that’s one of the annoying thing in recent anime: heavy-handed exposition. It just doesn’t flow that well, even if the information is super important and interesting.

Weekly Anime Review

There was action this week, lots of action. Mahouka had a Tatsuya rampage. Captain Earth had anAustralian Outback rampage. Argevollen had a Unit 8 rampage. This is a lie, mostly off-screen, most of the episode was Jamie running as per the title: “Run, Jamie!” Aldnoah Zero had the Martian Vlad going on a rampage. Sword Art Online had the start of Ballet of Bullet. Re: Hamatorahad a Honey-centric…

Weekly Anime Review

Mahouka and Captain Earth are trotting slowly toward a conclusion, although it’s a bit unclear where both are going. Argevollen is still going too slowly plot-wise. It’s not a bad show, it just lacks “oomph” in term of direction. Aldnoah Zero and Sword Art Online II are the most awesome shows currently and Re Hamatora makes me cry every time I watch it because I don’t want Art to be a bad guy. (m…
